SUMMARY:A Polyphonic God? Exploring Intercultural Mission – online panel
DESCRIPTION:Tuesday November 4th, 7-8.30pm\nOnline Panel Discussion\nOur context is one of suffering and polarisation. Yet our communities hold within them the potential for global connection as never before. How can we be church in a fragmented, fragile and fractured world? What kind of churches do we need to speak prophetically? How can we build communities of solidarity and hope?\nThis panel brings together key contributors to the recently published book, Polyphonic God. These theologians and practitioners together contend that intercultural churches are significant in multicultural British society, and serve to create a counter-cultural kingdom narrative demonstrating how we can find unity in the midst of diversity and how this can enrich the lives of everybody involved. This book envisions a re-imagined church that is intercultural, intergenerational and interdenominational.\n\nPanel members will be:\nRevd Dr Israel Oluwole Olofinjana: an African Public Theologian looking at the mission of African Christians in the European context. He is an Honorary Research Fellow at the Queen’s Foundation for Ecumenical Theological Education in Birmingham and is on the Advisory Group on Race and Theology of the Society for the Study of Theology (SST).\nRevd Dr Canon Sharon Prentis is deputy director of the Church of England’s Racial Justice Unit (RJU) team and an ordained Anglican priest. She has over 20 years experience in various education, community work, and health settings, including roles in local authorities and charities such as the Salvation Army,\nDr Usha Reifsnider is a second-generation migrant, first generation British-Gujarati Christ-follower, wife and mother. Since 1988 she serves in cross cultural mission mostly with refugees and migrants, including 10 years in the Middle East. Usha is an international cultural consultant, researcher and speaker with focus on migration and gospel engagement.\nRevd Dr David Wise is a Baptist minister. He served for 32 years at Greenford Baptist Church in West London during which time it transitioned from being a White British congregation to a genuinely inter-ethnic one. He now works as a mentor/coach for Christian leaders who are either working inter-ethnically or cross-culturally, speaks at conferences and writes for publication.\n \n
