Frozen in time? Christ, Creeds and Modern Belief
In 1921 Modern Church (then, ‘The Modern Churchmen’s Union’) held a conference at Girton College Cambridge on Christ and the Creeds. It was, in English Church life, ground-breaking. Reports of the conference and Leader articles were written about it. It had a profound effect on the Church of England’s Doctrine Commission just seven years later.
This day conference will both look back at the impact of the 1921 conference, and explore Christ, Creeds, and belief today.
Speakers include, Prof John Barton, Prof Mark Chapman, The Rev Jared Robinson-Brown, Canon Alan Race, and the Rev Jonathan Clatworthy.
The conference will be held ‘in-person’, but numbers are limited to 60. It will also be able to join the conference online. The cost of the ‘in-person’ conference is £45 (which includes a two-course lunch); the cost of joining online is £15.
Conference bookings can be made on the Modern Church website: https://modernchurch.org.uk/product/girton-conference-tickets
