We are delighted to announce the relaunch of Modern Believing, the theological journal of Modern Church, and to invite you to join us online on Thursday 28th January, 2021, at 7.30pm, for the relaunch event. The event replaces the physical event at St. James, Piccadilly, which has been twice postponed because of Covid-19.
Modern Believing has a new look, and a new editorial policy. You may already have heard of the changes to Modern Believing through the Modern Church insert in a recent edition of the Church Times. The aims of Modern Believing are
-
to publish fresh, constructive, tradition-informed, responsible, open-minded, challenging, easily readable theology;
-
to keep its readers in touch with recent developments in all branches of Christian theology, and with progressive accounts of Christian beliefs and doctrines, in dialogue with other disciplines.
Almost all of our authors now write by invitation, contributing to themes chosen by the Editor. Our themes for 2021 are ‘Living and Loving Faithfully’, ‘Theology and the Sciences: Conversations Old and New’; ‘Christology Now’; and ‘Postcolonial Theology’. We are most grateful to the theologians who share their wisdom with us,b and the many who review for us in our extensive Book Reviews section.
To mark the relaunch we are inviting our many contacts to join us at Modern Church and subscribe to Modern Believing at the special introductory rate of £35 (using the code MBRL21). Members also receive our sister publication Signs of the Times, our regular e-newsletter, a discount at our annual conferences, and free access to our website.
If you would like to join us for the event, please join us on this page for the livestreamed event. The event may also be viewed on YouTube on our channel.
You can subscribe to the new Modern Believing at the special introductory rate of £35 through the Membership pages of our website.
We look forward to welcoming you on the 28th of January.
With all good wishes,
Elaine Graham (President of Modern Church), Alan Race (Chair of Trustees), Adrian Thatcher (Editor of Modern Believing), Jonathan Draper (General Secretary)
